From Finland

According to a new poll conducted by Gallup International, some 62% of Finns have a negative view of Russia - that's quite a lot higher than the figures obtained for West European countries, and even higher than those for most former Eastern Bloc countries, outdone only by Kosova, at 73%.

Finland's President, Tarja Halonen, isn't worried: "We Finns are always critical of everything, but that doesn't prevent friendship," she says.

According to the poll, Finns are even more critical of the United States - and in that respect, they fall into line with other European nations.
